Explorers & Young Leaders

Once our members reach the age of 14 their Scouting adventure doesn’t have to end…

Upon reaching 14 our Scouts sadly have to leave our troops and join Explorers. However, we have a superb Young Leader programme, supported by our section leaders and assisted by District and County training.

The Young Leader programme is designed to develop our future leaders. Our Young Leaders assist with all of our younger sections, gradually developing their role through training, programme planning and event experience.

This combination of great experiences, shared knowledge and tailored training, ultimately enables Young Leaders at Brayton Scouts to become full Leaders in their own right, and more importantly well balanced young adults and excellent role models for our future leaders across all our sections.

Building confidence as they develop our Young Leaders, organising games, activities, meetings and events. They work closely with the adult leaders to encourage our young people to achieve their best using the knowledge, skills and experience they have learnt as they progressed through the group.

Explorers are a District level unit and are encouraged to lead themselves in deciding the programme and direction of the unit, with support and guidance from leaders.
